Indian Journal of Public AdministrationSummary: The concept of environmental study has been undergoing changes ever since the world at large started waking up to the significanc;e of the role played by the environment in the human life and vice versa. But for a long time the environment mostly understood as nature, continued to be perceived as of the heavenly order, something immutable and permanent with which humanity could have no more than a totally submissive relationship. Industry, agriculture, forestry, energy production and human population have been considered to a great extent responsible for alterations in the earth's eco-system resulting in global warming, ozone depletion and loss of bio-diversity. - Reproduced.
