Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), denotifyed nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes all of these vital sections of our society are unfortunately still backward and under-developed even after so many years of Independence. Considering the lack of education to be the root cause of their low status, the Government of India has adopted various measures for their upliftment. Post-Matric Scholarship is one such scheme meant for students whose parents are unable to meet their educational expenses. In this regard, the authors have taken up a case study of this scheme in Andhra Pradesh and Pondicherry. - Reproduced.
