A field study undertaken in Orissa reveals that the beneficiaries of micro-credit assistance under the programme have been identified as per guidelines. It was found that the glaring flaws impeding success are the lack of co-ordination amongst field level agencies, the indifferent quality of the groups formed and arbitrary selection of economic activities. - Reproduced.
