Indian Journal of Public AdministrationSummary: Corruption has come to be viewed as an important factor affecting economic, political and social lives both in developed as well as developing countries. it has become almost omnipresent, existing in all geographical areas, in all stages of economic development and every kind of government. This article attempts to analyse whether there exists any relationship between the corruption level of the countries and their per capita income, education level and exposure to outside world. The article notes that narrowly focussed frontal attacks on corruption in developing countries have not been successful because such efforts fail to tackle broader underlying factors that create or sustain it. - Reproduced.
