Indian Journal of Public AdministrationSummary: Corruption has not suddenly appeared on the Indian horizon and it cannot suuddenly disappear. It covers such a wide spectrum that it radiates many wavelengths and produces several undesirable effects on the society as one goes to traverse from one end to the other of the behemoth of governance, commerce and the complex soceity which makes it difficult to takele it in all its ramifications. There is a need for a fresh look from the fundamentals and bring about simple workable solutions without creating more ineffective institutions or laws and going beyond punitive approach towards preventive and positive action. - Reproduced.
