The Parliament of India passed a legislation for setting up of National Commission for Women and also set up Parliamentary Committee for Women Empowerment. The concept of Gender Budgeting refers to the process aimed at capturing/highlighting gender sensitivities of budgetary allocations. It also involves carrying out an impact analysis of government programmes and its budgetary allocations on the overall macro-economic status of women in the country.
