Reforming municipal personnel system in Orissa: search for a cadre of Urban managers 

<br/><br/> Urbanisation and rapid urban growth have posed manifold and appolling problems for the municipal authorities and this requires professionalism in urban management for better work performance. In this article, an attempt has been made for an indepth stuy of the situation prevailing in Orissa in the light of the recommendations of the various committees and also on a comparison of the personnel systems obtaining in other states of INdia. In the concluding observations, the author has ventured several suggestions as regards the type of cadre to be formed in the state; The mode of recruitment of the personnel needed to fill up the cadres; the creation of full-fledged Directorate for the urban local bodies in Or
