Modern management theories: promise or peril?

The authors develop a texonomy to classify existing management theories and analyses their normative content to discover their emphasis on anomalistic aspects. They compare it with an alternative post-modern thought system emphasising human values, and argue for developing practice of management, particularly for development organisations, based on theories promoting humanistic values.
