Strategic thinking for organisational structures and management

The 90s have begun with some dynamic trends that promise to have an important impact on organisations and individuals in them. The paper review and discusses some of the major issues and challenges brought about by these trends. It focuses on issues pertaining to organisational restructuring and management in the face of emerging contemporary forces and examines the corporate responses to those forces. It is argued that corporate resonses to the challenges of the 90s have revolved around (1) the problem of choice of appropriate organisation structure; (2) the recurring issue of downsizing; (3) the rising importance of strategic management; (4) the search for appropriate responses to emerging social phenomena; a
