<br/><br/> Probing the correlation between political elites' power maximisation effort and devolution of power in the post-independence decades in India, the author first identifies all the major leads thrown up during the course of unfolding of the political process which either suggest a positive or a negative correlation and the commonalities between the two. He then analyses the reasons as well as dynamics thereof to facilitate reader's understanding of the phenomenon.
