As compared to conventional crime scenes, arson sites are more difficult to process. In many cases, a building may have completely gutted and the crime scene evidence may have charred. A vital aspect of forensic arson investigation is to establish the point of origin of fire. Equally important is to identify the accelerant used by arsonists to set the scene afire.
