Victimisation, student-teacher relations and psychological problems among adolescents

<br/><br/> The school environment plays a key role in thwarting and nurturing mental health<br/>among students. The present study examines the relationship between victimisation<br/>experiences and psychological problems. The study also explores the relationship<br/>between teacher-student relationships and psychological problems. A sample of 200<br/>students comprising 100 males and 100 females in the age group 12 to 16 years was<br/>used. One-way ANOVA and hierarchical multiple regression analyses were carried<br/>out. Overt victimisation, relational victimisation and teacher humiliation positively<br/>predicted psychological problems. Overt victimisation was consistently related to both<br/>internalising problems and externalising problems among adolescents. The findings<br/>have implications for school-based interventions aimed at fostering resilience among<br/>students. – Repropduced <br/>
