Both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana registered a slower decline in poverty from 1993–94 to 2004–05 but witnessed a faster poverty decline from 2004–05 to 2011–12. However, Telangana, with lower monthly per capita expenditure growth, achieved faster poverty reduction in the second period than AP due to a high growth elasticity of poverty. – Reproduced
