A disaster implies a catastrophe, resulting in substantial loss of life & property and damage to environment, thus resulting in human suffering, which is beyond the coping capacity of the community of the affected area. Disaster management involves a continuous & integrated process of planning and executing necessary measures for achieving minimum damage to life & property. This paper discusses the myriad implications of disasters, dwells upon the significance of disaster risk resilience and proposes possible resolutions while highlighting the role of the Police, in disaster management. – Reproduced
