Literature suggests that effective and well-established human resource management (HRM) practices help in better retention and utilization of human resources, thereby resulting in the improvement of the organizational performance overall. Most studies have examined the linkage between HRM practices and organizational performance in large organizations. Not much research is available on the effect of HR practices on the performance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
