As Per DPIIT, the PLI scheme has led to the direct creation of more than 3.5 Lkah jobs in the 14 sectors. So far, the government has disbursed a PLI incentive of over Rs. 2900 cr, to the manufactures. It is pertinent to mention that unlike the MEIS schemes, where the beneficiary can also be a trader/exporter, under the PLI, only manufactures are legible to submit a proposal and claim incentive under the scheme. The PLI scheme therefore directly promotes Aatmanirbhart and domestic manufacturing. – Reproduced
