The objective of this article is to highlight the increasing rate, number and forms of this violence against women in the country. To protect women at individual level, it is essential to know about the forms and severity of the crimes. Further, this article is based on a theoretical analysis of a review of literature and the kind of offences women suffer. This article also analyses secondary data of National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) from the year 2016 to 2021 (NCRB, 2016–2021) which clearly reflects that crime against women has increased although it was only very low during Covid-19.
