A new perspective on sexual murderers - The Indian Police Journal - 69(2), Apr-Jun, 2022: p.46-54

An offender’s intentional or circumstantial killing of a victim during a sexual act is known as sexual murder. Sexual murder results from one person killing another in the context of power, control, sexuality, and aggressive brutality. This research work was conducted on 400 convicted rapists in all central prisons of Madhya Pradesh. Out of these, 49 cases were found to have committed twin crimes, i.e. rape along with murder. This study aims to know about the victim-offender relationship of offenders and understand patterns of killing victims by the offenders. The samples were chosen with the help of the purposive sampling method. The findings indicate that 12.25% of respondents who raped and murdered the victim did not choose the age of the victim for the purpose of the crime. This crime was committed due to circumstantial situations and a lack of control over mental impulses for the fulfilment of sexual desire.- Reproduced
