India’s act East policy and the Northeast India

The post gold war period saw a drum tic shift in India’s foreign policy outlook towards Southeast Asia with the incepting of the look East policy. Despite being a foreign policy strategy. Look East policy also had a domestic resource with its expected association with the development of Northeast India. While India succeeded in establishing a strong economic connection with Southeast Asia, Northeast did not get the expected benefits. The reforming of the look East policy as the “act East policy” was expected to address this shortcoming. This article student Northeast India in the broader look East act East policy. – Reproduced
