Ayurveda as health care system in medieval India: Was it undermined by Mughal rulers? - Bihar Journal of Public Administration - 20(2), Jul-Dec, 2023: p.365-375

It is largely alleged that Ayurveda was made dormant by state (Moughals) during medieval India and Unani system of health care was promoted by Moughal rulers. Muslims began to prefer Unani method over Ayurveda. But nothing can extinguish a practical idea with the capacity to solve human health needs, which is why there are many reasons to assume that Ayurveda thrived even during the medieval period dominated by Muslim rule. This paper seeks to trace the evolution of the Ayurvedic medical system and its related writings in medieval India. This research investigates the development and detrimental existence of the traditional Indian medical system. It can be explained by three factors: the production of texts, the availability of numerous commentaries, and the dissemination of Ayurveda among the common masses.- Reproduced
