Indian political thought and society: An historical perspective

<br/><br/> The main objective of this study is to show that the Western thinkers are wrong in labeling Indian civilization as devoid of political theory. The findings of the study show that political thought was in fact discussed in great depth and maturity from ancient times onwards. The study challenges the Western perception of Indian civilization as lacking in political theory. By delving into India's rich intellectual heritage, it demonstrates that political thought was discussed with remarkable depth and maturity from ancient times. Foundational texts such as the Arthashastra and Manusmriti, alongside philosophical discourses found in the Upanishads and Mahabharata, highlight the advanced nature of Indian political and ethical thinking. These findings reveal that Indian society has long contributed significantly to global political theory.<br/> – Reproduced
