The missing, an indigenous (ILO. 1989, No. 169) tribal community in the state of Assam is recognized as a scheduled tribal under the provisions of the constitution of India. With a total population of 6, 79, 824., missing are the second largest tribal group in the state inhabiting in the eight districts of northern and eastern Assam viz. lakhmpur, Dhemaji, Dibrugharh, Jorhat, Sivasagar, Sonitpur, Golaghat, andTinsukia. – Reproduced
