<br/><br/> Megalithic sites in Jammu and Kashmir have been a subject of archaeological study, tracing back to early research conducted in 1935. These sites, such as Gufkral and Burzoham in Kashmir and Sohail in Jammu, provide insights into ancient burial practices and the use of iron in the region. The tradition of erecting memorial stones to commemorate the dead has been observed among some tribal communities in Jammu, linking past megalithic customs to present-day practices.
