Bihar is a state where incidence of poverty is high on one hand and public health services have not been encouraging on the other. Thus, it becomes an urgent imperative to examine the situation of delivery of public health services in the state. The present paper intends to examine the health infrastructure, health personnel and the mechanism of health service delivery. The paper is based on both primary and secondary sources of data collection. Jamui district, one of the most backward districts of state was selected for empirical study. The findings reveal that there is acute shortage of public heath infrastructure and medical personnel. There is urgent need of state to address these problems.
