<br/><br/> The Supreme Court of India has scrapped the archaic Section 377, providing much freedom and space to the marginalized LGBTQIA++ community. The LGBTQIA++ community has been struggling for their rights and identity for ages. They have been mocked upon, looked down upon, and even denied of their mere existence. Most Indian films have portrayed this community in a quite disdainful manner. This paper carefully touches on all the aspects of representation of LGBTQIA++ in Indian Cinema. However, in recent times the Indian cinema has changed its course and many such films have tried to portray such characters in quite a positive light as well. This paper would be an attempt to identify such films which are broadly based on gender disparity, queer culture, and rights of the LGBTQ+ community. By using a critical approach to feminist and trans-feminist film theory and with the help of queer film theory, this paper would try to conceptualize and unfold a utopian world.
