Exploring the deep philosophical roots of mission karmayogi - Indian Journal of Public Administration - 71(1), Mar, 2025: p.187-189

In the swiftly changing sphere of governance and public service, India has embarked on a groundbreaking journey towards reforming its civil services through the inception of Mission Karmayogi on 2 September 2020. Sponsored by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, this initiative transcends traditional reforms to signify a profound metamorphosis of the Indian public service, deeply rooted in the ancient philosophical wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita. This initiative embodies the ‘Yogah Karmasu Kaushalam’ principle—the pursuit of excellence and efficiency in action. It heralds a departure from the customary rule-bound governance to embrace a more flexible, role-centric model, aspiring for a comprehensive revitalisation within the civil services that prioritises ethics, equity and efficiency.- Reproduced
