Regionalisation and cultural politics of the anglo-Indian identity in India

Distanced from the “invisible” male feringhee in her patrilineage, the author turns inward to unpack the maternal, regionally rooted traits of the Anglo-Indian identity. This article draws on her lived experiences as a young Anglo-Indian woman in post-independence India—bearing a White name and Brown skin. Through interviews with youth in Kolkata and Kochi, this article unpacks the cultural politics shaping the Anglo-Indian community identity in India. - Reproduced
