21(2s), Jul-Dec, 2024: p.572-581 This research paper examines the complex relationship between the Indian Constitution and social justice, exploring both the transformative potential of constitutional provisions and the persistent challenges in their implementation. It analyzes how constitutional rights and principles have been interpreted by the courts, implemented through legislation and policy, and contested by social movements. The paper investigates key areas including caste discrimination, gender equality, religious freedom, and economic justice to assess the successes, limitations, and ongoing struggles in the pursuit of social justice in India. While acknowledging signifi cant advances enabled by constitutional mechanisms, the research highlights the gap between constitutional ideals and social realities, emphasizing the need for a multi-faceted approach that combines legal measures with efforts to change social attitudes and empower marginalized communities.
