Building from rags to riches - Indian Journal of Training and Development - 53(1-4), Jan-Dec, 2023: p.92-98

Excel Institute of Management is a management school. The process began in 1994, when the Indian government welcomed the private sector to develop B-schools and engineering colleges across the country. The major goal of the businessman who set up Excel was the idea to establish an institution that would serve the educational needs. In addition, the institute continued to grow after surviving for a decade by building a system. The case highlights how the institute’s leadership helped to establish its name and reputation in a short period of time by being the first B-School to receive accreditation in the state, being autonomous, drawing applicants from all over the country, and winning numerous awards. The case discusses the importance of leadership, management concepts, and top management cooperation.-Reproduced
