Contraception plays a crucial role in reproductive health and population control, with methods available for both men and women. However, in south Indian states, family planning is predominantly women-centric, with heavy reliance on female sterilisation and minimal male participation. This article is based on the National Family Health Survey-5 2019–21. The findings suggest that gender disparity stems from sociocultural factors, policy focus, and historical trends that place the responsibility for contraception largely on women. – Reproduced
