<br/><br/>  The 73rd amendments to the constitution of India calls upon states to enact lows that enables panchyats to function as local government. To assess the extent of this devolution of power, the union ministry of Panchayat Raj has studied and ranked the states since 2004. The most recent of these studies. “Status of devolution to Panchayats in India: An indicative evidence bossed ranking 2024; released in February 2025, has been prepared by the Indian Institute of public administration (IIPA) Delhi, and uses a devolution index to rank the sates.
