Both the traditional inverted U-shaped and the contemporary N-shaped industrial EKC have been empirically tested to understand the long-term environmental impact of the core industries’ growth. The findings indicate that even though the core industries’ growth is expected to help momentarily improve environmental quality for a duration, failing to emphasise the innovation of industrial products and processes can cause further ecological imbalance in the long run. –Reproduced
