This paper explores the spectrum of Rural Non-Farm Employment (RNFE) at a very disaggregated level, where the geo-agro base differs a lot. It brings to sharp focus the variations in RNFE across deltas and uplands and these are much arresting when rural towns are added. The trend in women employment is rising and if is better than that of State and national levels, but the increasing pattern of RNFE is nearly similar. In the determinants of RNFE, the agricultural transformation has the major sway over RNFE, the agricultural transformation has the major sway over RNFE. The other key factors are urbanisation and infrastructural facilities. - Reproduced.
