District level urban governance polices in India: Cities of neglect? - Urban India - 39(1), Jan-Jun, 2019: p.134-142

This article deals with district level urban governance policy and planning with respect to two Indian states, Karnataka and Telangana. While there is a celery envisioned policy for urban governance in India, this article highlights that its implementation continues to remain patchy. It examiners whether the constitutional promotions envisaged for the sold purposes are being practice at not. The article demonstratives that while he provision of during water and sanitation remains a problems across the cities discussed, social capital in terms of making govern work and cope with communal issues too is a major issues. It tries to argue that a better social capital among citizens can be helpful in making the instructions of local urban governance work. – Reproduce
