His management principles evolved through his practices in his Ashrams mainly the Ashrams at Sevagram and Sabarmati. He believed in the management system which is caring for everybody in the organisation but at the same time it imposes lot of self-discipline on every co-worker. He believed more in giving rather than taking from the organisation. He executed efficient job everywhere. However, he did not favour machines which would replace or throw away people out of job but at the same time he did not support strikes which would destroy the industries. He advocated to treat customer as `god' which is the trend in the present day economy treating market as `god'.
