In this paper an attempt is made to study the impact of process of globalisation on the process of Dalit empowerment. Empowerment in both the economic and cultural realm has been analysed. For having a clear-cut understanding of the phenomenon about which we are discussing in the paper we have attempted an operational definition of the three key concepts used in the paper viz. Dalit, Globalisation and Empowerment. The concept of Dalits will give us clear picture of the target group, about which we are talking. It is also true, that there is lot of confusion in determining exactly who Dalits are? The concept of Globalisation will give us the insight about the processes involved in it and also what it means to Daits. The term empowerment in the sociological parlance is often used but we do not find its authentic definition in any sociological dictionary. Therefore we have tried to elaborate it. - Reproduced.
