It focuses on reducing conveyance and application losses, scheduling of the irrigation; equitable distribution of irrigation water and its conductive use; pricing of water; application of suitable cropping pattern and participatory irrigation management, some of the possible strategies resorted to with a view to minimising the priority problems of farmers include formation of an interdisciplinary team of specialists comprising the agricultural engineers, agronomists, sociologists and economists for proper assessment and implementation of solutions.
