NFHS-2 was launched in November 1998, covering a representative sample of more than 90,000 women from 26 states in India and was completed by June 1999, except for Tripura which completed fieldwork in July 2000. The all-India report was released in October 2000. This article goes down memory lane throwing light on the whole process, the problems and the successes. - Reproduced.
