The civil services of the country earned the name and fame owing to the ability, integrity, dedication and a high sense of fair play among its ranks. Today the charisma and the power of civil servants are being eroded due to several factors. Political interference, judicial activism and rampant corruption have made dents on the armour of civil servants. This article discusses the issues and circumstances that have made the services vulnerable to such pulls and pressures.
