Fiscal consolidation - Crucial for economic growth - 2004 - p.543-548. - Jul-Sep

The challenges faced by the government are not only to sustain and accelerate the pace of development but also to introduce policies that remove regional and sectoral disparities. Such an equitable growth can be achieved through efficient and rational consolidation of fiscal resources. Special attention is required on formulating sound economic policies, expenditure reforms, better debt management and reduced borrowings, curtailment of subsidies and control over project cost over runs. The author hopes that once crucial reforms and measures for fiscal consolidation are in place, the existing parameters for economic growth will show promising results. - Reproduced.
