National spatial data infrastructure - 2006 - p.14-16. - Jan

The National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) is envisioned to be a part of the evolving National Information Infrastructure which provides the means to get current and accurate geospatial data available for contributing locally, nationally, and globally leading to better economic growth, environmental quality and stability. The purpose of the NSDI Framework concept is to organize and enhance, throughout all levels of government and the private sector, the collection, maintenance and dissemination of basic, consistent digital geo-spatial data. This framework facilitates data sharing and provides a base on which an organiztion can accurately register and compile other themes of data or add application specific information. - Reproduced.
