In recent times there has been a raging debate going on in the country on India's constitutional framework and the need for a constructive equilibrium in the powers and authority exercised by the three wings of the government. One view is that, in the light of many executive omissions. Commissions and failures, judicial interventions have increased so that the rule of law can prevail. At the other end of the debate is the feeling that judicial activism is perhaps over-reaching its functional assignments and limits, and, in many cases, assuming the tasks which, in the prevailing scheme of constitutional and legal provisions, fall in legislative or executive domains. - Reproduced.
