These considerations pose challenges of multifarious shades and hues requiring adaptation of a system of protection of both copyright and rights neighbouring on copyright or related rights. A major problem raised by these technological developments for international copyright, concerns piracy. The illegal reproduction and distribution of protected works are other flagrant infringements of copyright. A greater awareness needs to be built on the economic value of intellectual property for the private sector and for national development and growth; as to how the intellectual property system can be utilised to promote national inventiveness and creativity.
