As a result of trans-economic integration India has experienced a surge in urban migration. Simultaneously, the opening up of the economy has led to a significant economic development and growth of urban India. The formal sector alone cannot cater to the employment requirement of the vast migrating urban population. Hence, every possible alternative including self-employment has to be explored. This article analyses suitability of micro-credit options by way of financial inclusion by banks and other financial institutions to help and assist this huge army of young employable force to consolidate the gains of economic growth and development in ciites and towns. - Reproduced.
