The dynamics of public private partnership for socio-economic development - 2008 - p.605-618. - Jul-Sep

In this article, the authors have outlined the concept of PPP and its emerging need in the provision of basic public services and socio-economic infrastructure. While discussing the dynamics of PPP for social development, the UN Millennium Development Goals, social indicators in India and the concept of corporate social responsibility, etc. have been discussed. As for the dynamics of PPP for economic development, the present scenario of existing infrastructure gap, various PPP arrangements and the process management of PPP projects etc. have been discussed. The article also highlights in the institutional framework of various modes of PPP as also the progress achieved by various states of India in the implementation of PPP till date. It concludes with the observation that PPP has become the need of the hour for a resource crunch and progressively developing nation like India, especially to cater to the needs of socio-economic development of its citizens. - Reproduced.
