Six variables are identified for this study as follows: (1). Personality; (2). role; (3). Organisation; (4). task; (5). values, and (6) Setting. These variables operate within the framework of the four factors that characterise human behaviour that is power, affection, instrumentality and association. Author presents a cross-country analysis of administrative leadership from the African continent on the basis of a study of leadership styles of four top leaders of our times; i.e. Kwame Nkruma (Ghana), Julius Nyrere (Tanzani), Jomo Kenyata (Kenya), and Edi Amin (Uganda).
