RTI also becomes important in the present situation when the developing countries like India are adopting new economic policies of liberalisation, privatisation and globalisation. It is imperative to equip citizens in handling this patent tool so that they would effectively strive for a better law and stricter enforcement. It is only then that the law on the right to know will be of any benefit to the common people and not just remain in the statute book.
