This article discusses the international and Indian scenarios, in which the right to information has progressed. The salient features of the RTI Act have also been detailed. The working of the Act in the last four years of its enactment has also been analysed with special reference to the present position of the Central Information Commission and State Information Commissions. The different fee structures at the Central level and the state level have also been discussed.
