Many theoretical perspectives, viewpoints and paradigms have been put forward by scholars and practical statesmen alike on the importance of the freedom of information to human society. This article situates the issue of the right to information in the broader philosophical and international contexts first and then goes into an analysis of the prevailing practices regarding this freedom in three great democracies of the world-India, USA and UK in a comparative perspective. - Reproduced.</subfield>
