It infers that the economic liberalisation is a necessary but not an adequate condition for ushering the era of transparency and accountability and thereby curtailing the scope for corruption. That will require multi-pronged approach to tackle the menace at different levels in different forms. Also, there is a need for extensive research in the area to generate credible data and information to link the outcomes of economic and other reforms with the resultant alleviation of corruption in the public services. - Reproduced.</subfield>
